Your first Spanish Heat: what to expect
Tickets, doors, the music, the dress code and why coming alone is fine. Everything you want to know before your first night.
Spanish Heat is a reggaeton party, but the first thing most people notice is not the music. It is that everybody seems to know everybody. Latinos, internationals, Dutch students, people who came with a group of twelve and people who came alone. Here is how a night works.
Tickets
Tickets are sold per tier: pre-sale, entry before 00:00, regular, late. Each tier is cheaper than the next and sells out in that order, so the earliest ticket is always the best deal. Some nights add a lady-duo ticket that gets two people in on one ticket. The door price is set on the night and is usually the highest; on busy nights the door closes. Breda is the exception with free entry.
Doors and hours
Most nights open at 23:00 and run until 04:00 or 05:00. The first hour is for arriving, the second is when the room fills, and from midnight on it is full until close. Every event page lists the exact times.
The music
Latin, reggaeton and hits. Reggaeton from the classics to this week's releases, and in between the international sing-alongs and guilty pleasures that get the whole room shouting the words. That mix is what makes the sound ours. The DJs come from different nationalities, which is the whole idea: everyone brings something from where they are from. Ask for a track — the night is read from the floor and built together with the people on it. If you know the words, you are in the right place; if you do not, you will by the end.
Dress code
Casual and sexy, in whatever you feel yourself in. Come ready to dance and own the night, in your own flavour. That last part matters to us: this is a community, and nobody should have to dress like somebody else to belong on this floor. Sportswear, tracksuits, football jerseys and overly casual outfits do not fit the vibe.
One thing to check before you leave the house: every venue has its own dress code, and that one is leading. We host the night, the venue runs the door, and we stand behind their rules. Look up the venue for your edition (it is on the event page) and follow what they ask, because their door team has the final say.
Coming alone
Plenty of people do, and that is not a side effect — it is what Spanish Heat was built for. The whole idea is a place where people meet new friends and can be themselves, without having to arrive with a group first. The party is open, social and international by design, and the first conversation usually starts in the queue.
If you just moved to the city, this is the easiest night to walk into. Latinos, internationals, students and locals who came for the same music, most of them just as open to meeting someone new. Come once and you will recognise faces the next time.
